Namibian politician Adolf Hitler Uunona has retained his seat in a northern constituency, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding his name, a legacy of the country’s former German colonial era.
For the fifth consecutive time, he won the local elections held Wednesday in the Oshana region, where he has represented Ompundja since 2004 under the banner of SWAPO, the ruling party.
Although the official results from the Electoral Commission have yet to be released, multiple reports indicate that Uunona secured a decisive victory, once again confirming his strong local support and the confidence of his voters.
