Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport is about to turn a page in its history. The days of navigating terminals 2A, 2B, 2C or even 2G will soon be over. Starting in March 2027, Roissy will adopt a much simpler and more intuitive system: terminals numbered 1 through 7. The goal is clear—modernize the airport and make navigation easier for travelers, especially international passengers in transit, who account for more than 30% of CDG’s daily traffic.
According to ADP, user feedback has long highlighted confusion caused by the maze of sub-terminals. The new numbering will follow the natural flow of passengers arriving by road or by RER, creating a straightforward, logical progression.
Terminal 1… then 2! Yes, really
Terminal 1 will keep its current name, but everything after that gets renumbered in sequence. For example, today’s Terminal 2E will become Terminal 5, and Terminal 2F will become Terminal 6. Boarding areas will be assigned letters for clarity once passengers clear security.
The overhaul will launch alongside the opening of CDG Express, the long-awaited rail link connecting Roissy to Paris Gare de l’Est in 20 minutes, running every quarter-hour.
Together, these changes aim to make Charles-de-Gaulle more intuitive, more fluid… and finally easier to understand for the millions who pass through its halls every year.
