A small aircraft attempting an emergency landing on Interstate 95 in Cocoa collided with a car on Monday evening, leaving the driver with minor injuries. The pilot and his passenger walked away unharmed as federal investigators opened a probe into the incident.
Emergency landing turns into a collision. The twin-engine aircraft tried to land on I-95 in Florida but ended up crashing into a Toyota Camry. The 57-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while the 27-year-old pilot and his passenger escaped unharmed.
Dramatic footage
Dashcam video captured the moment the plane flew just above another vehicle seconds before impact. “We saw the plane drop out of the sky,” said one witness.
Investigation underway
Affected lanes were temporarily closed. The FAA is leading the investigation, and an NTSB report is expected within 30 days.
