After weeks of renovation work that began in April, the iconic Reflecting Pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial is once again filled with water. The project was launched under President Donald Trump, who also pushed for the pool’s floor to be repainted in what he described as “American flag blue.”
Beyond its new look, the renovation aimed to solve long-standing leakage issues. Trump said a new waterproof material was used during the works, claiming the upgraded structure should prevent future leaks.
The project has attracted significant attention in Washington. While Trump estimated the cost at between $1.5 million and $2 million, federal records show that several contracts have already been awarded as part of the refurbishment effort.
The pool’s return comes just days after a UFC arena was installed on the South Lawn of the White House ahead of a June 14 event celebrating both Donald Trump’s birthday and the 250th anniversary of American independence.
